Job Description Job Description Career and Technical Education (CTE) HVAC instructors teach students the practical and theoretical skills needed for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) industry. Core Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery: Instructing students on the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including wiring, soldering, and blueprint reading. Safety Instruction: Modeling and enforcing industry-standard safety practices, including the proper use of ladders, scaffolds, and power tools. Assessment: Evaluating student mastery of both technical skills (hands-on) and theoretical knowledge (testing). Industry Connection: Preparing students for industry-standard certifications (like EPA Section 608) and connecting them with local employment opportunities through apprenticeships. Qualifications Possess or be willing to obtain the NJDOE CTE Instructional Certificate with appropriate endorsement. Possesses a Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in a related field or evidence of employment history of 4 years (8,000 hours). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
